42 Black-Owned Bars & Restaurants in NYC to Support Right Now

We’ve been supporting the service industry as a whole through COVID-19 these past few months, but now it’s time to step up for the black community in particular. We’ve all seen the news. Between protests, police brutality, rioting, and a need for change, one thing is definite: we need to do our part. Whether that is getting out on the streets and protesting, reaching out to your local government, donating to various campaigns, or supporting black-owned businesses. I wanted to compile a list of black-owned bars and restaurants in New York City that you can support right now. Order take out, buy a gift card, make a donation, or buy merch. Our community, whether it is Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island, needs our help. In this time of extreme uncertainty, fear and hope, let’s find it in ourselves to support our community leaders, business owners, and entrepreneurs.

The number of black-owned bars and restaurants in NYC goes far beyond the list I’ve made here. Please let me know in the comments if you have any establishments you’d like to add or even remove. It can be difficult to verify which businesses are authentically black-owned, so let me know if I’ve mistakenly included any that aren’t. Websites like Black Owned Brooklyn and Shoppe Black are great resources for black-owned businesses, beyond the bar and restaurant industry as well.
